Serves 6 |
|8 oz ground beef|
|1 yellow onion, chopped|
|1/2 red bell pepper, chopped|
|3 cloves garlic, minced|
|2 cups canned crushed tomatoes|
|1 teaspoon dried oregano|
|1/2 teaspoon salt|
|1/4 teaspoon black pepper|
|1 tube frozen bread dough, 8 oz.|
- Preheat oven to 400° F.
- Spray a large nonstick skillet with vegetable cooking spray. Heat skillet over medium heat. Add beef and cook, for 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Add onion and bell pepper and cook for an additional 5 minutes, stirring. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute. Stir in tomatoes, oregano, salt, and black pepper.
- Simmer beef mixture over medium-high heat until slightly thickened, about 15 minutes. Spoon beef mixture into a medium casserole.
- On a lightly floured surface, using a lightly floured rolling pin, roll dough out into a rectangle large enough to cover casserole. Cut rectangle into 6 squares. Arrange squares over filing.
- Bake Stromboli until top is golden brown, about 15 minutes.
