The last 3-Day weekend of summer is almost here. Labor Day traditionally marks the end of summer, and the unofficial end of grilling season. Our Love Local event is back! Join us this Wednesday, 8/30, to kick off our month-long celebration of all things locally grown and produced. From artichokes to artisan cheeses, we love everything local. Pick up our Love Local booklet to find information on several local vendors and our many in-store events we are hosting throughout the month. Keep an eye out for local products in every department. You’ll find farm fresh produce, all-natural meats, fresh seafood, fine wines, craft beers, premium cheeses, hand crafted breads and baked goods, sweet treats, frosty ice cream, and so much more! Stop by our produce department to find farm fresh artichokes from local grower Lakeside Organic Gardens. Artichokes thrive in California’s coastal climate, which is why they’re considered one of the many jewels in California’s agriculture crown. Lakeside growers Dick and Juan walk the artichoke fields daily ensuring that optimal quality and flavor standards are met. Lakeside Organic Gardens artichokes are hand harvested and the sharp tips snipped for hasslefree cooking and easy enjoyment. When selecting an artichoke, look for one with a healthy green color, compact center leaves and is firm to the touch.
