Simply Sweet Sugar Cookies
This Wednesday, July 9th, is arguably one of the best foodie holidays of the year, National Sugar Cookie Day. What’s not to love about a sugar cookie? They’re rich, soft, and chewy with a slight crumble and the right amount of sweetness. It’s believed that the precursor to the modern sugar cookie originated during the mid-1700s in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, among German Protestant settlers. The treat was a round, crumbly, and buttery, affectionately called the Nazareth Cookie. Over the years, the recipe was refined and modernized, ultimately evolving into the sugar cookie we know and love today. It’s easy to see why the simple sugar cookie is an all-time favorite for many. Go ahead and indulge a little. Celebrate National Sugar Cookie Day with us! And if you want to bake a batch at home, we have the perfect recipe for the occasion!

Celebrating 100 Years!
This Tuesday, July 8th, San Carlos will be celebrating its 100th Anniversary! Founded in 1925 with the efforts of Frederick Drake, known as “The Father of San Carlos”. Originally, the area was home to the Lamchin people, a subgroup of the Ohlone Native Americans. Spanish explorers arrived during the 18th century to establish missions, disrupting the Lamchins’ peaceful way of life. By the early 19th century, the land was included in a land grant called Rancho del Las Pulgas, which was given to Don José Darío Argüello. In 1850, when California became a state, the land was gradually subdivided and sold. But unlike the nearby towns of Redwood City and Belmont, San Carlos was slow to develop, remaining a predominantly agricultural area from the end of the 19th century into the early 20th century. Land development began to boom with the arrival of the Southern Pacific Railroad. The city was officially incorporated in 1925 and earned the nickname “The City of Good Living” for its small-town charm and ideal climate. The Bianchini’s Market family has been a proud part of the San Carlos community for generations! We are proud to be a local family-owned market and believe in supporting the San Carlos community that supports us!

Stay Cool with Summer Mocktails
Get into the summer vibes by mixing up a sweet, fun, and fruity mocktail.
The popularity of mocktails has grown in recent years. Many people are adopting healthier habits that support a more conscious lifestyle. As the demand for non-alcoholic options has increased, mixologists have answered. A mocktail is a non-alcoholic mixed drink that mimics the flavors, presentation, and overall experience of a traditional cocktail. But they can be so much more. These alcohol-free concoctions are crafted with fruit juices, syrups, herbs, and other flavorful ingredients. One mocktail that’s caught our eye is the Berry Sparkler. The bubbly beverage perfectly encapsulates the feeling of summer by combining fresh mixed berries, sparkling water, and mint, with a splash of simple syrup and lemon juice. Try it today, it may become your new summer go-to drink for poolside parties and backyard BBQs.
