So Many Pasta-bilities!
Stop by our store and pick up your favorite pasta to celebrate National Pasta Day this Thursday, 10/17. Did you know that the first mention of pasta was around 1154 in Sicily. And that the first macaroni machine came to America in 1789 thanks to Thomas Jefferson? The basic recipe for pasta is unleavened dough that’s mixed with water or eggs that’s formed into a shape, either served freshly cooked after shaping or dried and stored for later use. One of the many reasons pasta is so beloved is its versatility of sizes and shapes. Enjoy fettuccine alfredo, spaghetti and meatballs, baked ziti, and stuffed ravioli. They all begin with pasta and build from there to create distinct dishes. Get a little dinnertime menu inspiration by browsing our pasta recipe collection.

National Meatloaf Appreciation Day
Mark your calendar and bring out your loaf pan because this Friday, 10/18, is National Meatloaf Appreciation Day. Traditional meatloaf of minced meat mixed with oats and spices, has roots in German, Scandinavian, Czech, Swiss and Belgian cuisines. 18th century Pennsylvania Dutch settlers brought their recipes to America, adapting what was available to their meals. An early version of what many Americans call meatloaf has origins in a dish called scrapple, which is made with pork and cornmeal shaped into a loaf. Today, ground beef is the standard base for a homemade meatloaf, but many meats can be accommodated to fit the recipe, like, lamb, pork, poultry, veal, or venison. Pick of the Pumpkin Patch
Just in time for the beginning of Fall, our stores have a special delivery of everyone’s favorite gourd, pumpkins! While the traditional pumpkin we envision is tall, round and orange, pumpkins come in a variety of sizes, shapes and colors. While many enjoy baking delicious pumpkin pies and treats in October, the most popular activity by far is carving Jack-o’- Lanterns. The tradition began around the 1900’s in Ireland with root vegetables like rutabaga. Faces were carved into them and a lump of coal was placed in the bottom to create a lantern. These lanterns were intended to ward off evil spirits and supernatural beings. During your next shopping trip, pick up a pumpkin. We have a variety of carving pumpkins, minis and gourds to choose from, stop by take your pick!

Classic Sliders
Small in size yet big in flavor!
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lb. 80% lean Certified Angus Beef ® ground beef
- 1 package sweet Hawaiian rolls, 12 count
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened
- 2 teaspoons canola oi
- 1 large yellow onion, finely diced
- 1 1/2 teaspoons coarse kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon Morton and Bassett ground black pepper
- 6 slices cheddar cheese, halved
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons mustard
- 24 pickle slices
- 1/2 head iceberg lettuce, finely shredded
Directions
Separate the ground beef into 12 pieces, weighing around 2 ounces each. Roll the ground beef into a golf ball sized ball.
Slice the rolls in half horizontally, keeping the tops and bottoms intact. Spread the butter across the cut sides. Bring the griddle surface to medium-high heat. Toast buns until they are golden brown. Remove from the griddle and set aside.
Drizzle the canola oil across the griddle surface. Place the diced onions on the griddle and spread into an even layer. Cook the onions for 3 minutes.
Place the ground beef balls on the onions and gently press down with a spatula to slightly flatten into patties. Carefully separate patties and onion pile to make 12. Season with salt and pepper. After about 2 minutes of cooking, the patties should have a nice sear. Carefully flip to keep the onion and patty together. Place a cheese slice on each slider patty.
Spread the mayonnaise and mustard across bottom buns, then place two pickle slices on each. Place the slider patties on top of the pickles. Top the patties with shredded lettuce. Place the top buns on the lettuce. Cut the sliders into 12 and enjoy!
