Get Warm and Cozy with Hot Chocolate

This Friday, January 31st, is National Hot Chocolate Day. What a delightful way to end the month. Did you know that the first chocolate drink is believed to have been created by the Mayo-Chinchipe culture over 5,000 years ago in what is now Ecuador? The Olmec people of Central America were also drinking chocolate by 1800 B.C. and the Mayans are 500 B.C. had a form of drinking chocolate called xocōlātl, which translates to “bitter water”. The early version of hot chocolate consisted of ground cocoa beans mixed with cold water, spices and flowers, far from the sweet, hot chocolatey drink we all know and love today. This Friday, join us in celebrating this sweet foodie holiday with a big cup of hot chocolate. And if you’re feeling adventurous, try our adult version of the childhood favorite.
