Wing It for Chicken Wing Day
One of the tastiest foodie holidays is this Tuesday, July 29th. We’re of course talking about National Chicken Wing Day. Celebrate with us by tossing some wings in your favorite sauce. Did you know that Buffalo wings can be traced back to 1964 to Anchor Bar in Buffalo, New York? The story goes, Teressa Bellissimo, owner of the bar, decided to make a late-night snack. Instead of removing the chicken from the bones for the next day’s soup, she chose to deep fry chicken wings, coat them in butter, then toss the wings in her homemade sauce. Creating the first batch of buffalo chicken wings and forever changing the snacking landscape. It didn’t take long for National Chicken Wing Day to be inaugurated on July 29th, 1977, in Buffalo, New York, the birthplace of buffalo wings.
