Instead of removing the chicken from the bones for the next day’s soup, she chose to deep fry chicken wings, coat them in butter, then toss the wings in her homemade sauce. Creating the first batch of buffalo chicken wings and forever changing the snacking landscape. It didn’t take long for National Chicken Wing Day to be inaugurated on July 29th, 1977, in Buffalo, New York, the birthplace of buffalo wings.
