And over the centuries, the art of making beer has been refined and perfected, allowing for some remarkable brews. While in the United States, the first American-brewed beers were made by Virginian colonists in 1587. Over 200 years later in 1829, Yuengling was founded in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, and remains America’s oldest brewery. As of 2022, there are 9,552 operating craft breweries in the United States, and over 1,100 call California home!
