National Grand Marnier Day
Did you know that July 14th is recognized as National Grand Marnier Day? If you haven’t tried Grand Marnier yet, you’re in for a real treat! The story began in 1827 when Jean Baptiste Lapostolle established a high-quality fruit liqueur distillery in Neauphle-le-Château, a small town near Paris. Jean Baptiste’s granddaughter, Julia, married Louis-Alexandre Marnier. Four years later, Louis-Alexandre created the first bottle of Grand Marnier by blending fine French cognac with bigarade oranges, also known as bitter oranges. This innovative idea was considered avant-garde at the time. Not long after its launch, Grand Marnier became popular and was featured at the Ritz Paris and the Savoy Hotel. Interestingly, the recipe has remained unchanged since its creation, demonstrating the lasting appeal of this aromatic and uniquely flavorful liqueur. If you’re feeling adventurous, we have a perfect homemade ice cream sauce that will elevate your next bowl of ice cream!
