National Eggnog Day!

Did you know that this Wednesday, December 24th, is National Eggnog Day? So pour yourself a glass and enjoy this wintertime favorite. Eggnog originated from the medieval British drink posset, which was a hot, milky concoction that was often made with an ale or wine, with added spices for flavor. It became a holiday tradition in the American colonies by the 1700s, where rum was substituted for the more expensive sherry wine and other alcohols. Interestingly, the term “eggnog” likely originated from the Scottish word “noggin,” a term for a mug, or from the strong ales that were referred to as “nog”.
