Extra Spicy Sloppy Joes





Serves 8 |
Turning up the heat on the classic sandwich.
Ingredients:
2 lb ground beef |
1 teaspoon olive oil |
2 cloves garlic, minced |
1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and diced |
1 cup diced yellow onion |
1/2 cup water |
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce |
1 3/4 cup ketchup |
1 tablespoon yellow mustard |
1 1/2 tablespoons white vinegar |
3/4 teaspoon kosher salt |
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper |
2 tablespoons sugar |
1/2 teaspoon paprika |
3/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper |
8 slices muenster cheese |
8 hamburger buns |
Directions:
- Pour olive oil into a Dutch oven. Bring to medium heat. Once hot, add garlic, jalapeno and yellow onion. Cook for 8 minutes, stirring often.
- Add ground beef to the Dutch oven and cook until no longer pink.
- Pour in water, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, yellow mustard and white vinegar. Stir together well. Sprinkle kosher salt, black pepper, sugar, paprika and cayenne pepper over top and stir well.
- Place lid on Dutch oven and simmer for 20 minutes. Remove from heat.
- Place a spoonful of sloppy joe on the bottom bun. Top with a slice of muenster cheese. Place top bun on to make sandwich and enjoy!
