Angel Food Cake with Strawberry Sauce

Serves 6 | 
A decadent dessert that is perfect for sharing.

Ingredients:

1 lb strawberries, hulled and quartered
1/4 cup strawberry liqueur
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/4 teaspoon salt
Fresh strawberries, sliced, for garnish
1 mini angel food cake

Directions:

  1. Melt butter in medium saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add brown sugar, and stir until dissolved.
  3. Take pan off stove; add liqueur and return to the stove. Add the strawberries along with a pinch salt. Simmer, stirring occasionally, mashing any large strawberry pieces.
  4. Simmer until almost all the liquid has evaporated and the sauce has thickened.
  5. Drizzle strawberry sauce over slices of angel food cake and top with sliced strawberries.
