Who’s Ready for S’mores?
Attention all Bay Area S’mores fans, mark your calendars because this Saturday, August 10th, is National S’mores Day. What’s not to love about a S’more? They’re easy to make, require just three ingredients, and they can be customized to suit anyone’s taste. S’mores have been around for decades! While the exact date of their creation is unknown, they have been enjoyed by the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts since the 1920’s. An early appearance can be found in a book from 1927 called Tramping and Trailing with the Girl Scouts under the name Some More. Eventually the name was contracted to S’mores in 1938 to appeal to summer camps. While many things have changed over the years, the public’s love for the ooey, gooey treat has remained constant. So, pick up a bag of marshmallows, a few bars of chocolate & a box of graham crackers and celebrate National S’mores Day. If you’re feeling adventurous, try the scrumptious recipe below.
