Holiday Panettone

The holidays are now a little sweeter thanks to panettone. For those unfamiliar with panettone, it’s a tall dome-shaped sweet bread loaf with a light, cake-like texture that’s filled with either candied fruits or bits of chocolate. Panettone derives its name from the Italian word panetto, a small loaf cake. Historical records show an early version of panettone from the Roman Empire, who made a type of leavened cake sweetened with honey. While the panettone we know and love today can be traced to Milan in the early 20th century. If you’ve never tried panettone before, make your way to your Bianchini’s and pick one up! We carry the largest selection of panettone on the Peninsula, so, come in and browse our selections.
