Rosh Hashanah, Jewish New Year, begins this Friday evening, 9/15, and ends at sundown on Sunday, 9/17. Celebrate Rosh Hashanah by serving round challah bread from local As Kneaded Bakery. The circular shape of the bread is meant to symbolize the wheel of seasons and turning of a new year. Challah is a rich bread with a soft texture that’s enriched with eggs and has just a touch of sweetness. As Kneaded Bakery is locally owned and operated by founder Iliana Berkowitz. Inspired by the sourdough culture of the Bay Area and the long history and rich breadmaking traditions of her Jewish heritage, Iliana wanted to share love of fine baked goods with the masses.
