Today we’re celebrating the crunchy triangle we all love, the tortilla chip! National Tortilla Chip Day is held annually on February 24th. The triangle-shaped tortilla chip was popularized by Rebecca Webb Carranza in the 1940s. She sought a way to use the misshapen tortillas that were rejected from the automated tortilla manufacturing machine. She cut the tortillas into triangles, fried them, and sold them for a dime a bag.
