On Friday, August 1st, San Mateo County Sheriff’s deputies may want to ask you some questions; namely, did you remember to bring your shopping bag?
At the 3rd Annual “Bagging for Bucks” fundraiser benefiting the Special Olympics of Northern California, customers at Bianchini’s Market in both San Carlos & Portola Valley will be greeted by uniformed personnel who will bag their groceries with a smile and collect much needed funds for the Special Olympics of Northern California. “This seemed like a great way to raise funds alongside a local business who makes a habit of supporting local business”, says Sergeant Todd Finato. “Bianchini’s & their customers are so supportive. We raised almost $4,000 in just a few hours during our 2nd Annual event. We hope to exceed that amount this year.”
Bianchini’s Market customers and the general public will have an opportunity to tip their uniformed deputy/courtesy clerks, meet Sheriff’s Office personnel and explore Sheriff’s Office vehicles. Deputies & staff will be on hand offering goodies, taking pictures, and passing out child fingerprinting & safety kits. In addition, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Explorers Program for teens will be showcased at the San Carlos store and those wishing to register or learn more about it are encouraged to stop by.
All proceeds will benefit the funds needed to support the myriad Special Olympics programs which serve youth and adult athletes with disabilities.
“We have a longstanding relationship with the Sheriff’s Office in San Mateo County”, says Kevin Bianchini, owner of Bianchini’s Market. “We make it a priority to support their work whenever possible.”
The “Bagging for Bucks” event will run from 3-7 PM on Friday, 8/1 at Bianchini’s Market Portola Valley, 3130 Alpine Road in the Ladera Shopping Center, and at Bianchini’s Market San Carlos at 810 Laurel Street.
